Give Me Naughty Any Day

This week my son got a hold of a huge bottle of hair spray.  And I mean HUGE. Mama is trying to grow out her bangs so hair spray has become a necessity.  He sprayed it all over the bathroom until it was empty.  It was a wonderful thing to come home to a sticky, hard film over the mirror, faucets, sink, and floor.

This week my son figured out butt humor.  He has the comedic timing of Andy Kaufman.  He is sticking his butt, fully clothed thankfully, into the air and just simply saying “butt” and exploding into a world of giggles.  And everyone else explodes into giggles as well, no matter how much they try to not so he isn’t positively reinforced.

This week my son found the few Christmas presents I had already bought and opened them.  Finally, I was actually ahead of the game for once.  And obviously it doesn’t pay to be ahead of the game.  I reminded him and his brother that just meant less on Christmas morning.

My son is making naughty choices.

And here’s the thing.

I love it.

Give me naughty any day over him hurting himself, him becoming frustrated and upset, him putting himself into danger by bolting, him hurting others because he feels he has no other way to communicate.  I’ll take giggles and that twinkle in the eye any day over all of that.

It’s all about perspective.
